INTRA-FIRM MOBILITY OF THE EMPLOYEES IN THE IT-B.P.O SECTOR: DATA SOURCE

In Kerala the IT-B.P.O. sector showed a continuous growth during the last decade. Even after the recession it is continuing and provides more employment to the people of Kerala. Infopark is such a destination for both the employees as well as employers and the study is conducted among the employees at the there. Primary data is collected by using a prepared questionnaire, from the 60 workers from a unit of 200 employees, of an accounting based company working at the Infopark, Kochi.

METHODOLOGY OF THE STUDY

The study not used any models or complicated methods, but used percentages and compare mean method for understanding earnings related to the variables education, experience, job status and promotion.

CHARACTERISTICS OF EMPLOYEES

Now the degree holders are getting enough opportunity for working with companies that specialising in IT-B.P.Os. Here the majority of employees working at the company are degree holders.
From the table no.1, we can see that the minimum Salary of the employees those who participated in the survey is Rupees 7000 and it varies between Rupees 7000 and 3200. The mean salary is about Rupees 10580. The mean age of the employees is 27. All of them specialised in accounting and finance area. No one found of having more than 7 years of experience because Infopark already came in to existence only in the year 2004. It is also found that 68.3 per cent of the employees are working as Associates, 16.7 per cent as Senior associates, 13.3 per cent as Analyst’s and 1.7 per cent Team leaders. The educational status of the employees is B.com, M.com and M.B.A. About 38.3 per cent of them got promotion to the next senior position. It is evident that the other majority that is 61.7 have not got promotion yet.

The highest level of position enjoyed by them is Team leader and the lowest level of job status associates- those who participated in the survey.
